My Name is Asher Lev
interesting but not an easy read.I am someone who doesn’t believe in art (or even truth) as a value before all others. So I was irritated and annoyed by Asher Lev and felt that he should have been more considerate of the implications of his heritage and should have had more backbone in resisting both his promoter and the false temptations of free expression.
If he couldn’t find a way to express himself without brutalizing the Jewish tradition maybe he should have first examined his own belief
