I thought the premise was great and the world building excellent. There was enough detail that I believed in the Kingdoms but not so much I felt I was drowning or struggling to remember details.
I also found the King Leck pretty terrifying.
I did like the main characters of Katsa and Po but didn't love them. And their romance never quite swept me off my feet.
And although there was tension I never felt a serious sense of threat until the events in Po’s castle. That was a heart-stopper but then was over too quickly.
I have really looked forward to reading this book and although I wasn’t disappointed I also wasn’t as wowed as I had hoped to be.
I really enjoyed the book and would recommend it to others but it was not one I liked enough to continue the series.
